Paisley: Stephanie Thomson wins Color Technician of the Year

A RENFREWSHIRE woman has been honored for her exceptional hairdressing skills.

Stephanie Thomson, of Kaoss Salon, Paisley, has been highly praised in the Color Technician of the Year category at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards 2022.

She said: “The event had to be postponed from December 2021 due to Covid so we were really delighted to be able to attend.

“I think everyone had really missed being able to celebrate together and just have fun.”

Each year, companies and individuals in the hair and beauty industry are nominated by their customers for different awards.

A preselection is then established and the organizers of the prize send a team of mystery shoppers to the salons in the running, before deciding who deserves to be the winner.

Stephanie added, “It’s great for the company to win an award like this. This makes you known, especially on social networks, and this is how you build a clientele.

“You need customers. Without customers, you will go nowhere.

“It helps us build a trustworthy reputation and without it, you would struggle to grow your business.”

The prize is not the first to be collected by Stephanie.

She added: “In 2019 I won the Stylist of the Year award. It was a great prize to get as you compete against people from all over Scotland.

“The salons were coming up on stage to accept the prizes and there were 10 or 12 people there – and then there was our little salon in Paisley coming up to accept such an incredible prize. It was really exciting.

Stephanie also explained that because of Covid, many aspiring hairdressers are discouraged from pursuing their dream careers.

She urges these people to stick with it, as she has already noticed a change for the better in the industry.
